Why does Ross River Virus cause fatigue?

I've read a couple of sites and the reason for the fatigue side effect seems to have eluded me.Ross River virus disease causes arthritis, joint inflammation, fatigue and muscle pains. Many patients also develop a rash. Everyone recovers although some people have intermittent symptoms for a year or more. When in mosquito-prone areas, wear loose-fitting, light-coloured clothing and use insect repellent to help
Ross River virus disease is caused by an alphavirus, which is spread by mosquitoes. Approximately 30 per cent of people infected with the virus will develop symptoms three to 11 days after being infected. People affected by Ross River virus disease may be unable to work for two to three months or longer. Ross River virus disease causes arthritis or joint pain
Arthritis caused by Ross River virus disease lasts from days to months. The joints affected include: Wrists
Knees
Ankles
Small joints of the extremities, such as fingers or toes.
Some people may have symptoms that come and go, but become less severe, for a year or more.
