Why do young girls diagnosed with diabetes?

how do parents reduce their children's risk for diabetes by adopting a healthier lifestyle?
Answer:
Lifestyle choices can affect whether a person develops diabetes type 2, because type 2 usually results from obesity. Any lifestyle choices that keep the child healthy and of a normal weight would help prevent the development of diabetes. The pancreas secretes insulin to help body cells absorb sugar and use it as energy. But when a person gets fat, the body cells get resistant to the insulin or the pancreas starts to malfunction- and the sugar gets backed up, staying in the blood = diabetes. The sugar in the blood attaches to many things including the blood vessel walls, which causes damage over time- this is how many of the complications of diabetes comes about (kidney failure, blindness, numbness in feet/wound healing/amputations). To keep your blood vessels healthy, we need to keep the blood sugars low/normal, ie. prevent diabetes, or if you have it, control it tightly!Often, people on the borderline of developing diabetes type 2 can stave it off by losing 10% of their current weight; this should highlight how important obesity is in relation to diabetes type 2! Keep children active- lots of sports and active fun. Reduce sugar, soda, oily/fried foods from the diet. Help them develop a lifestyle that does not lead to obesity.
i dont know what your talking about with young girls being diagnosed with diabetes... both boys and girls have an equal chance of developing it.
there is absolutely no way to reduce the risk of developing type 1 diabetes. type 1 is usually genetic and diagnosed when you're youngby adopting a healthier lifestyle you reduce the risk of developing type 2. one of the main factors in developing type 2 is being overweight. eat right and exercise and you lower the risk of getting type 2. I'm not saying theres no chance of getting type 2 if you eat right and exercise..it just lowers the risk. there is such a thing as a skinny type 2
