Why does diovan work and lisinopril not in lowering my bp?

Answer:
Diovan = ARB = ACE receptor blocker
lisinopril = ACE-InhibitorSlightly different mechanisms of action. Different patients often have different responses to similar drugs.
some conditions require beta blockers where other require calcium channel blockers to be beneficial. sometimes diuretics are needed to do the job. sometimes it's a try it and see method to determine which works best for you. i'm sure your doc has suggested you keep track of your blood pressure at home. once you are on the right meds for your elevated blood pressure take them everyday. remember.high blood pressure is a silent killer. if you experience any change in your symptoms or your bp remains elevated.notify your doc. your meds may have to be adjusted.
