Why does severe vomiting would result to Metabolic Acidosis?

Answer:
Metabolic acidosis Definition - Metabolic acidosis is a pH imbalance in which the body has accumulated too much acid and does not have enough bicarbonate to effectively neutralize the effects of the acid.Description - Metabolic acidosis, as a disruption of the body's acid/base balance, can be a mild symptom brought on by a lack of insulin, a starvation diet, or a gastrointestinal disorder like vomiting and diarrhea. Metabolic acidosis can indicate a more serious problem with a major organ like the liver, heart, or kidneys. It can also be one of the first signs of drug overdose or poisoning.Click on the link to read more about causes and treatment
Hmm I believe that severe vomiting would result to metabolic alkalosis...As we studied in Physiology, when you vomit, you release the gastric contents on your stomach. Those gastric contents are acidic, thus when you remove those contents, you make the stomach alkalotic. THe resulting metabolic alkalosis makes your respiratory system to hypoventilate to compensate for the loss of acid in your body
severe vomiting or diarrhea either one can cause an electrolyte imbalance caused buy depletion of the essential elements in the blood that are necessary to provide homeostasis and yes----that does cause metabolic acidosis----------this can become life-threatening enough to cause seizures or even death.
heart function depends on the proper amount of sodium and potassium.-----medical intervention is necessary.
It doesn't. It would result in Metabolic Alkalosis, because you rid gastric acid, so your alkaline levels would rise.
