Why does my thyroid medication need to be taken in the morning?

Answer:
Most of my patients are on thyroid medications due to the problems in their kidneys (renal bone disease). This should be taken on an empty stomach, usually before breakfast. Swallow the tablets whole with water.Try to take this medicine at the same time each day to avoid missing any doses.
Usually simpler/more convenient that way to adhere to the necessary gap between eating and taking your thyroid meds.
You need to take synthroid on an empty stomach. That's because it easily binds with other nutritional elements especially calcium and iron. Take it first thing in the morning with a full glass of water and don't eat anything -- not even coffee for at least an hour after that. You need to absorb it all.
It doesn't need to if its T4. If its T4 like Synthroid or Levoxyl, you can take it at night if you want. I will post a link about it below. If you are on a med like Armour that contains both T4 and T3, then you'd want to take it in the day time only.
