Why don't people sneeze while they sleep?

I ask because surely these viruses are doing the same thing they do when we are awake. Why then don't we feel it and react?
Answer:
Do we lack the ability to sneeze while sleeping? "Or do we not sneeze because the conditions aren't right for sneezing?"After all it's a basic reflex that comes as original equipment. A quick review of my own son's early home videos yielded many examples of him sneezing as a tiny infant. It's a natural defense against dust and other airborne irritants. And those factors become less of an issue once we settle in for the night, says Cramer-Borneman."Homes with good ventilation, there's not much air flow in a room, compared to outdoors where you have pollens, dusts and mildews," he said. Not to mention the absence of another known sneeze trigger - bright light."A sudden exposure to certain bright light intensity can actually trigger sneezing," the sleep doctor pointed out. The so-called photo sneezing reflex, inherited by 30 percent of people of European descent, won't happen while we're sleeping.Cramer-Borneman remarks that another common cause of sneezing - plucking eyebrows -- is also far less likely to occur while we're in slumber.Of course, Cramer-Borneman suspects, we could be sleep-sneezing and just not know about it just as the patient who eats in her sleep has no recollection of it the next morning."The question would then become, would you be aware of that sneeze? Again, there are many things we do in our sleep we're not aware of," he concludes
you dont sneeze while you sleep because part of your brain gos to sleep
People do sneeze in their sleep, though. It's just rare to hear it, I guess.
I've sneezed in my sleep, my mom told me when she came to check on me when I had a cold. You don't hiccup though, not usually, hiccups are muscular contractions of the diaphragm. Your body is usually too relaxed to hiccup. You can sneeze, but it is less common.
