Why don't our pets get lung cancer from second hand smoke?

We've had many pets throughout the years and most have passed away from old age not lung cancer and my husband and I both smoke. You would think if second hand smoke is so deadly it would attack our animals small lungs before a persons. Does anyone know why this doesn't seem to be the case?
Answer:
secondhand smoke is just bs.
They don't live as long as humans.
So the answer is, they die naturally before the effects of second-hand smoke can harm them.
I think as someone said they just dont live long enough. another thing is that animals are usually on the floor, and most smoke rises. Also, when you are talking with someone who smokes, Ive seen that they love to blow in your face. who blows smoke in their pets face?
The problem is you have not had your pets tested.
I'm willing to bet everything and say that your animals where not as active as they should have been.
The second account would be that smoke rises thus taking longer for it to affect your pets. Your only as good as the things you put inside your body or as bad as the thing you subject your selves to.
Dogs do get lung cancer. Generally speaking by the time its affecting their lives, they've died of old age, or other symptoms of disease or neglect.
My brother had a thing about teaching his dog to sneeze on command by blowing cigarette smoke in his face.
Dusty died of lung cancer.
