I was wondering, if what I have is anxiety attacks when I have to leave the house {what the dr said} why do I have to go to the bathroom{#2} if you know what I mean, and that is my only symptom, nothing else just stomach pain and have to "go"?? What exactly would trigger the bowels?
Answer:
The doctor is right. The way it works is related to a basic fight or flight principle. People have the wiring that rushes adrenaline into the blood to help them deal with danger or excitement. When this happens, it is supposed to supply energy and strength to help you deal with danger. The effects of this includes faster heart rate/ higher blood pressure, eyes get dilated, and the body dumps excess weight. If you scare rats or mice, they will go #2 and #1 as well for the same reason. Anxiety is a name for this same effect when there isn't any danger or anything to worry about or when the body takes these effects too far.
The most common cause of IBD (irritable bowel disease) is anxiety.
When nervious or anxious it will make you need to pass feces.
I believe people's emotions are very connected to their digestive system. Whether is love you are feeling to stress, your tummy will always react in a very specific way. I had a 12th grade female student, who was constantly working around her intestines. She even made an essay called "the culture of my stomach" where she narrated embarasing moments her stomach caused her. Embarasing first date, when she was so nervous cuz her father called she stood up and released a loud f.rt, she couldn't help but feeling horrible, while her boyfriend laughed like crazy and started cheering her up by burping even louder. True romance.
Another time at school, she went to the bathroom because a very big math test was making her go. While there, she decided to flush the toilet while sitting, which turned out to be a big mess, because the toilet overflowed with her duki in it, she had to run outside with her skirt and undies to her ankles only to face 11th graders dying of laughter.
I do not really know what causes you to suffer this, but I hope my student's tales will suffice in my effort to tell you, you are not alone.
