Why do steroids thin the skin? Is there any way of reversing the effects on the skin?

Answer:
Skin atrophy is mostly due to a decrease in collagen synthesis. Since collagen is the most abundant protein in the skin, the inhibition of its synthesis leads to atrophy.I am not aware of any mechanism to reverse this process I am afraid.
do not know you did not state why you take them.
I use a steroid cream for eczema. It has to be used sparingly because it thins the skin. It must be strong stuff to do that.
